CCIE LAB TIP

Although I am not yet a CCIE and I am practicing to be one (hopefully soon), I still allow my self to give some pointers and they are cumming from my practice with my IEWB and life experience.1) Read Carefully the task.2) look for pointers for example: a) when they ask you to build a vtp domain plan and on the diagram or on the layout you see a vlan from the extended range, make a note you are dealing with Transparent Bridge b)if they are asking you to build a hub and spoke FR topology on a physical interface and put them in Eigrp usually what will happen is you will need to disable the Split Horizon.c) BGP one of the major parts of your lab if you get a layout with private AS numbers and they indicate that other AS should see the private a real AS then you know you need Confederation.3) do not panic work it trough the lab build it one at a time and do not skip from one subject to another as I would guess you will get lost very quickly.4) something you don't know ask either in …

CCIE IEWB R&S For Dynagen

I was absolutely amazed with the possibility of the practice with this emulator as it is allowing you to create a full lab on your PC (it needs to be a strong one but you can).I am using a poor PC (Celeron 2.4 Ghz with 512MB RAM ) for this task and it is handleing well just handeling as it taks some time untill all the topology is starting and it is runing the CPU at 100% all the time and Memmory ~600 - 700 MB, I am logging in remotly from my lap top as I do not want to run on this PC any more applications. For login Remotly simply state the IP Address insted of the localhost [localhost:7201] to [1.1.1.1:7201] if 1.1.1.1 is your IP.I have now finished mapping the full IEWB R&S v4 Lab for the Dynagen and I have added here my link to download I hope you all benefit from that.I must say it is fun :-)

CCIE PRACTICE LAB FOR FREEEEEEEEEE

You either know this and if you do then good for you, but if you don't I will tell you a secret, you can get a full Practice lab setup for FREEEE well almost free, all you need is a strong PC with at least 1 GB of RAM. And you are half way there, now all you need is to go into Dynagen Project you can download it for free, also read carefully the Tutorial and notice you need the Winpcap 4.0 if you are a windows user. Another very helpful Forum on this subject is hacki.at you will need to register but it is also free and you will benefit from that as you will be able to download some sample lab setup.almost forgot to mention there are some limitation:work for 7200 and 3600 Series for now (in the forum you will see how you can emulate almost anything based on the 3600 only)you will need IOS file to work (but where there is a weal....)

CCIE QUEST BAD DAY

I am sure every body had a bad day in there life especially if you are trying to get this Certificate.Well yesterday was my bad day, I have went into the practice lab and started uploading all the initial configuration, I don't know why nothing went smooth yesterday a regular setup took me ages to get to I was like a zombie trying to figure out how to do a simple filter or how to setup a OSPF tunnel between areas.Just NOT FUN DAYAny how I want to say that when you have such a bad day like I did the key is not to give up and say OK stop I want to get off the bus, push your self to the limit as this is what people expect you to deliver. you need to be there last resort there hope to a solution when they cant think of one, so you need to encounter with a lot of dead end in your experience to get the "wisdom" and I don't mean you need to memorize all the LIVE CD of cisco NO NO NO!you need to be able to work trough to a solution and to get to it with the technology unders…

CCIE LAB EIGRP SPLIT HORIZON RULL

Here in the picture you can see a simple senario setup of 3 routers connected over Ethernet in a Hub and Spoke topology, simple solution for frame relay was to do point-to-point sub interfaces and connect them all, but as the CCIE Lab Exam is not a best practice lab they will usually ask you to work only on the physical interface and due to that you will be faced with a problem of split horizon rule where one update that will be received on the physical interface from R1 cannot be Sent out that same interface to R3 and due to that R3 will be left out of the picture as far as the updates (same goes for the other way around). so what is the solution well in that case and only in that case it will be safe to turn the Split Horizon on R2. and how you do it?

Example under R2 Serial Interface: ! interface Serial 0/0 ip add 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0 no ip split-horizon eigrp !

CCIE OSPF TIP OF THE DAY FOR CCIE EXAM AND FOR LIFE

OSPF is one of the major IGP protocol for the CCIE lab exam. And one of the major basic configuration considerations is Router-ID, unlike other routing protocols the router-id is most important settings and it is the very first thing you should do before all your network statements or any other setting. why? Well the router is is used trough the process of establishing neighbor relationships, virtual links and basically it is the first break in your OSPF wall. Dont's: I would not live it to faith (lowest loopback interface or lowest other interface). I would not configure 1.1.1.1 or 2.2.2.2 as this are can very well be real IP's both in the real world and in the lab Do I would configure static router-id (for sure). I would configure it based on the loopback first octet rack number for second octet and third and forth octet are router number. So for loopback start with 180 on rack 1 and for router number 4 it will look like so ! ! router OSPF 1 router-id 180.1.4.4 ! hope th…

CCIE R&S QUEST

On my way to become New CCIE R&S I learn almost every day something new and get my older knowledge deeper. To become CCIE I am getting to understand that the real scary part about this exam is the anticipation and not the exam it self. And I relay believe that when you will go into the exam no matter how much you learned you always have 50% chance to encounter with something new. So my tip is to relax and if you face with a question that you do not know just skip it and note to your self to get back to it later. And usually this things you will not know of the top of your head are only few points. No I don't say this exam is easy, this is for sure one of the hardest exam there is in our filed of expertise but with hard work you will achieve results. I am going to give my good available time from work dedicated to this task in order to achieve it. So wishing all good luck in there quest to become "New born CCIE"
